Blue Matcha is a natural tea. However, despite its name, it does not come from Japan, like traditional matcha, and in general is not made from tea tree leaves.
The drink is made from the petals of a plant called Clitoria trifoliata. It grows in tropical climates. A distinctive feature of the plant is its bright blue flowers. Its other name is Thai flower. Blue tea obtained from the clitoris is very popular in Thailand. There it is considered a kind of calling card. This tea is also common among some East Asian peoples.
Blue matcha has a delicate aroma, but its taste is very light and even weak. To make it brighter and richer, you need to add mint or currant leaves to the tea while brewing.
How to brew?
- To fully enjoy this amazing drink, you should take a bowl and warm it with boiling water.
- After this, you need to wipe it dry and add two teaspoons of tea, which is approximately 2 grams. Next, hot water is poured in and the powder is whisked until completely dissolved. During whipping, the foam characteristic of matcha appears.
- After the powder has dissolved, you can add more hot water. Then you just need to stir the drink. Do not rush to drink it right away, wait until all the grains of tea sink to the bottom. After this, it will acquire the fullness of taste.
- If you prefer purple, add a little lemon juice at this stage.
